Marie E. Case
Biography
Marie E. Case was born August 28, 1890, in Calhoun Township, IA. She graduated from both Drake University in Des Moines, IA, and from the Kansas State Teachers College. Before arriving at St. Cloud State, Case was a teacher, county superintendent in Harrison County, IA, and an instructor at the State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS.
Case served as a faculty member at St. Cloud State from 1926 to 1958. She was director of the women's physical education program and chairman of the department from 1953 to 1958. Case also served on the curriculum committee at St. Cloud State University for six years. She died April 20, 1972, in St. Cloud.
Marie E. Case Hall (1964)
A twin to Hill Hall, construction of Case Hall began in the summer of 1963. It was the second residence hall to be constructed for the north side residence complex in the 1960s. Designed by architects Jackson-Hahn Associates, the 200 bed four story building opened in September 1964.
In 2012, Hill and Case Halls underwent a $12.8 million renovation that included larger doorways and bathrooms, improved kitchen facilities, a computer tech center, video surveillance, and card access. Case Hall was rededicated in September 2012.
