Trivial Facts:

  • This year marks the first appearance of the Minnesota Masters of Trivia Traveling Trophy, a gold vase that was found by question writer Gary Burt. 
  • Shake A Hamster Band made its first appearance as the official Trivia Weekend band. They wrote parodies of popular songs and played live on air over the weekend.
  • Team The Know Nothings were a 14 person team that consisted mostly of high school students, with the oldest team member being age 20. 
  • Team GDI was the oldest team in the competition.
  • Teams called places like the British Embassy, the Miami Herald newsroom, and the Yellow Pages.
  • First year that the contest was held in February.
