Flag 1: Opened in 1931 as the "Sports Recreational Field", Selke Field served as the home for a variety of sports including football, track, and, later, softball. The space was enclosed by a granite wall constructed between 1936 and 1937 by WPA labor. In 1946, the space was named in honor of alum and St. Cloud State president George Selke. Most sports moved back to the campus proper in 2004 when Husky Stadium opened.

Flag 2: Completed in 1942, Brainard Hall was built and used by the National Youth Administration (NYA) and the military during World War II. In 1946, the building began its use as a dormitory by St. Cloud State.  Named in honor of faculty member and St. Cloud State president Dudley Brainard, the building was razed in 1960.

Flag 3: Opened in the winter of 1947, the Veterans Housing complex contained 24 buildings, each measuring 20 feet x 54 feet, to provide military veterans and their families with housing while taking classes. These units would eventually house married students and their families. Intended to last only five years, the complex was condemned in June 1968 and torn down shortly after.
