Flag 1: 3rd Avenue South closed at 10th Street South due to approach to new bridge. Closed street transformed into a pedestrian walkway.

Flag 2: New 10th Street bridge (now University Bridge) complete and opened in September 1985.

Flag 3: North addition added to the former Thomas J. Gray Campus Laboratory School, renamed the Engineering and Computing Center (ECC). Construction began in the summer of 1985 and completed in late summer 1986.
