HOW TO USE OMEKA

Digital Exhibits

University Archives runs a website full of Digital Exhibits. These exhibits include both text and digital multi media content like images, audio, and video objects. We need to move exhibits and their content from an old website to a new website.

The old site is here http://libsys.stcloudstate.edu/university-archives/exhibits

Moving to a new digital exhibits content management system called Omeka S (Omeka).

Use your email and password for this site

Open a site

Each exhibit has its own site.
You must open a site to edit pages in that site.

Page Blocks

Text content

We want to maintain some formatting like headings, paragraphs, emphasis, what else?
Some style we are going to leave behind.
Paste into a text editor to remove formatting. Copy from text editor to then paste in new page.
Add important formatting back when pasting into new page

H1 is reserved. H2 is used by page title.
- Start with H3 if there is a page title.
- Start with H2 if there is no page title

Media content (Images, etc.)

When adding an image or other digital object to a page, look in the site's item set first. If not there, you need to add the image to the site. Find it in the Archives item set and add it to the Exhibit item set and site. Then add it to the page from the site resources.

KVSC Trivia Weekend

Images

I did a search for 'KVSC" and got 223 results. I added them to the KVSC Trivia item set.
I need to copy the images of the trophy from FLICKR, add them to the Omeka site, and add them to the first page of the exhibit.
