TEST - 100 Years of the Chronicle

Chronicle's First Issue

“Get in the game and make the Chronicle the snappiest paper in Minnesota”

The first issue of The Chronicle appeared on Friday, September 19, 1924. It was St. Cloud State’s third student newspaper.

First published under faculty adviser Helen Hill, the newspaper revealed staff was “picked more or less arbitrarily from the English classes…for the purpose of starting the paper”, yet encouraged students to submit material.

Over time, The Chronicle had to adapt. At its height, 60 plus print issues were published in a single year. Later, The Chronicle was made available online for wider access.

With nearly 3,900 print issues, The Chronicle informs the campus community from the student point of view as well as gives hands-on experience.

Thanks to University Archives, all existing print issues can be searched, viewed, and downloaded from The Repository @ St. Cloud State.
